It’s Not Too Late! How to Navigate Social Media During the Festive Season

Christmas can at times be crazy, but social media at Christmas is a whole different ball game. Rest assured however, we’ve compiled our best tips to help you navigate the festive period.

Plan, plan, plan

With detailed plans in place over the festive season you can ensure that things run smoothly for you, and most importantly your clients. It’s likely that you (and your business) will be offline for a few days over Christmas, which makes planning even more important. Planning in advance also means approvals should be well in place before you sign off for mince pies and mulled wine.

Set deadlines

To ensure all your planning and organisation doesn’t go to waste, make sure you set reasonable deadlines. You don’t want to be frantically making amends to content calendars on Christmas Eve! Check that your team and your clients are all aware of the relevant deadlines that need to be met, and the last date any content changes can be made. It’s important to clearly communicate to everyone involved what the deadline is, to ensure everyone is on the same page.

Plan for Jan

Don’t forget that December is a short working month; in order to avoid a last minute scramble for content in January, make sure you prepare ahead of the New Year. Make sure you have at least a rough plan in place for January, which will enable you to hit the ground running when you return refreshed in the New Year. It’s also vital to communicate with clients and certify your plan for their January content aligns with their business goals for the next year.

Hopefully these tips will help you avoid any Christmas chaos this year, and ensure that instead of writing last minute content, you’ll be enjoying a few hot chocolates on Christmas Eve. Merry Christmas everyone!
